NWA 14729 lunar meteorite was purchased from a Moroccan dealer in 2021. The total recovered weight of this lunar meteorite is 2.3 kilograms. NWA 14729 has been classified as a Lunar (polymict anorthositic troctolite melt breccia). Only nine meteorites have been classified as Lunar Melt Breccias.
The NWA 14729 Lunar Meteorite was found as a single stone. The meteorite has a dark green-brown color. It is a highly shocked meteorite as might be expected as a melt type meteorite. The fine grained light colored host rock is set in a darker vesicular melt rock matrix. Some of the element content in the olivine and plagioclase of NWA 14729 is consistent with that of returned samples of Moon rock from the manned Apollo missions.
